Helping the youth of San Pedro and our beloved four legged friends is my goal for this Honorary Mayor race.  My name is Pam Costa and I am the Leadership Director for the Port of Los Angeles High School and a member of their Board of Trustees.  I also serve on the board for Maria’s Closet, a charity that gives young women prom dresses so that they may be empowered and feel like a princess for one of their biggest nights.  I am an advocate for the loving care of animals and I look forward to doing more work with Pedro Pet Pals.  I have decided to run for Honorary Mayor of San Pedro and raise money for the following three charities: Maria's Closet, Pedro Pet Pals and Port of Los Angeles High School. I have been in the world of education for over 17 years, directed school musicals, served on many boards and have raised thousands of dollars for numerous charities. I am the proud mother of Jacob Costa and Lauren Valenza and I am honored to call Matteo Valenza my son in law.  I am married to Domenic Costa for almost 30 years and he is the current Honorary Mayor of San Pedro. I am thrilled to say that together we raised over $51,000.00 for his campaign.  That money went to three exceptional charities, all serving the youth of this city.

    Clean San Pedro

    LAPD Harbor Division Cadets

Manuel Jimenez was born and raised in San Pedro.  He is a proud alumnus of 15th Street elementary school, Dana Middle School, and San Pedro High School Police Academy Magnet, where he was elected Senior Class President. Manuel enrolled in the LAPD Harbor Division Cadet program, at the age of 14, and continued in the program till the age of 18.  Through the cadet program, Manuel had his first introduction to law enforcement and security.  He found a sense of purpose and comradery with his fellow cadets.  Through his high school years, Manuel was introduced to community service.  He fulfilled many hours volunteering and giving back supporting the community that supported him.  Taking his level of commitment and support to the next degree, Manuel enlisted into the United States Marine Corps.  Manuel was an active Marine for four years and continues to serve as an active member of the reserve component.

Manuel also worked corporate contract security, with Southern California Edison and SpaceX, growing his dexterity in the business of protection and honing his skills as a leader in his industry.  Manuel opened Black Knight Patrol in 2015, a private security company based out of San Pedro.  Black Knight Patrol services many local businesses and non-profits here in San Pedro, as well as many clients through Los Angeles and Orange County. Through Black Knight Patrol, Manuel has continued to give back, fostering positivity that has built a philanthropic arm of the company, through volunteerism and support, via donated items, meals, money and time, in which he’d eventually like to develop into a foundation.  Manuel is so appreciative of the opportunities and mentorship that he has received, it is truly what drives his desire to give back.

Manuel is currently a member of the San Pedro Rotary Club, the American Legion, San Pedro Chamber of Commerce, and Torrance Area Chamber of Commerce.  When he is not running his company, training with the Marine Corps, getting POST Certified with the Riverside County Sheriffs Dept., and/or volunteering his time to support local organizations, Manuel likes to travel, workout, or hang out with his dogs, April and Whiskey.

    Green Girl Farms

    San Pedro Meals on Wheels

Humberto “The Chori-Man” Raygoza began making chorizo professionally in 2013, though as a fourth-generation chorizo maker, it’s been a life-long passion.  Humberto credits the people and community of San Pedro for the success of The Chori-Man, having first opened his food stand at Crafted in 2015, and built his following selling his famous chorizo tacos and burritos at Brouwerij West before opening up The Chori-Man shop on Alma Street in 2017.

Humberto and his team at The Chori-Man are supporting Green Girl Farms and San Pedro Meals on Wheels to help these two great non-profits in their efforts to provide San Pedro with locally grown, healthy and sustainable food choices.  Look for some great menu items at The Chori-Man and for some great food collaborations between the three as they all work together to raise money for San Pedro!
