  • San Pedro Military Banner Program

  • The San Pedro Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce that in partnership with Councilman Joe Buscaino, the creation of the San Pedro Military Banner program to honor and recognize our veterans and active duty military personnel.

    This new program will recognize our veterans and active military by hanging banners with photos, rank and branch of the military of sponsored individuals on street poles for Veterans Day 2019, and also annually for LA Fleet week. The banner program will start in downtown San Pedro and as the program grows, we hope to expand to additional streets throughout the community.

    The San Pedro Military Banner Program is being launched on Veterans Day 2019 with three honorees and sponsors:

    Louis Dominguez: US Army, Vietnam War, Purple Heart Recipient. Sponsored by the San Pedro Chamber of Commerce

    John Fer: US Air Force, Vietnam War, Prisoner of War. Sponsored by Councilman Joe Buscaino

    Anthony Palaziol: Active Duty, Lance Corporal, US Marines. Sponsored by George Palaziol

    And while we have funded the first three banners, this program seeks to honor hundreds of our local veterans. The community is invited to join with us to expand the program to honor family and friends to show our appreciation for their service. 

     

    Program Details: The program is open to businesses and community members to sponsor banner honorees. To qualify for the program, the honoree must meet the following criteria:

    1) Veteran or Active Duty member of the United States Armed Forces; and

    2) Current San Pedro resident or is immediate family of a San Pedro resident (immediate family is: wife or husband, son, daughter, grandson or granddaughter, son-in-law or daughter-in-law).

     

    Application: Military Banner applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis. Production and hanging of the banners will be supported by donations through the sponsorship of a military banner.  Approved applications that are accompanied by a contribution of $300.00 will be produced and installed for the month of November 2019 through December 31, 2019 and July of 2020 through mid-November weekend of 2020. After November 2020, the banner will be returned to the family.  Please download the application below and mail it with a check to 390 W. 7th Street, San Pedro.  If you prefer to pay by credit card, you can call the office at (310) 832-7272 and we can process payment over the phone.  Applications, can be scanned and emailed to Elise Swanson at eswanson@sanpedrochamber.com.

     

    Installation: Location of the banner is at the sole discretion of the San Pedro Chamber of Commerce. Banners will be left up during the months of the program and repaired and replaced if they should become damaged during that time. 

     

    Donations: Donations in support of the Military Program can be sent to the San Pedro Chamber of Commerce, 390 W. 7th Street, San Pedro, CA 90731. Attention: Military Banner Program.
