Every January 2nd, "Run It Up the Flagpole and See Who Salutes" Day is celebrated. The term is popular United States catchphrase from the 1950s and 60s meaning "to present an idea and see if it gets a favorable reaction." Used sometimes seriously but most intentionally humorous. The phrase was associated with the advertising agencies from the "Mad Men" period. Come join Battleship IOWA, and try new ideas on for size by "running it up the flagpole and see who salutes." Free to all paying visitors who purchased a flag from the museum.
