BGCLAH's 21st Annual ILWU/PMA Luncheon
We are delighted to come together to share a meal and celebrate the port's impact on our community’s youth. The Port of Los Angeles is vital to our community, just as this event’s fundraising efforts are vital to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Los Angeles Harbor (BGCLAH). As we have done for many years, the International Longshore and Warehouse Union (ILWU) locals, representing ILWU essential workers in the Port, and the Pacific Maritime Association (PMA), comprising Port terminal operators and shipping lines, continue to lead by example, working together to move our nation’s essential cargo while continuing to support our community’s youth.
For 89 years, the BGCLAH has honored its mission: to enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens. This year, BGCLAH has expanded to 26 sites across San Pedro, Wilmington, Harbor City, Harbor Gateway, and Lomita. In 2025, the Club served over 12,000 youth and sent more than 670 seniors to college. None of this is possible without the generosity of our supporters.
The three pillars of Academics, Arts, and Athletics programs are flourishing. BGCLAH members have access to one-on-one tutoring, leadership programs, sports leagues, dance, music, art showcases, and more.
In addition, your collaborative efforts have allowed the organization to grow in many ways, including digital expansion of College Bound bringing our renowned college prep program to thousands more, the expansion of Career Bound which allows us to offer a pathway to success for our members who enter the workforce after graduation, and so much more. Club members have more opportunities than ever before as we continue to expand our programming. This includes the development of our Workforce Development Center, which equips members with essential job skills, career training, and direct pathways to employment in today’s competitive job market.
Our ongoing commitment to supporting the education, development, and well-being of our community’s youth through the Boys & Girls Clubs would not be possible without your help. Please support our efforts this year by sponsoring and/or attending the ILWU/PMA Luncheon.
