:
When someone is diagnosed with cancer, it impacts everyone- mothers, fathers, daughters, sons, grandparents, neighbors, friends and even pets. It is a terrible, destructive disease that wreaks havoc on the lives of those we love and care about, and something must be done to stop it.
Cancer affects the lives of so many people close to us. In fact, 1.6 million people in the US will be newly diagnosed with cancer this year alone. According to The Veterinary Cancer Society, cancer is the leading cause of death in 47% of dogs, especially dogs over age ten, and 32% of cats. Dogs get cancer at about the same rate as humans, while cats get fewer cancers.
It is a staggering statistic. But there is hope.
That is why we are inviting you to join us at the Point Vicente Park in Rancho Palos Verdes, CA on Sunday, April 7, 2019 from 10am-2pm at the Bark For Life South Bay as we celebrate our canine companions while raising money to fight cancer.
Bark For Life South Bay is a fundraising event that gives animal lovers a chance to take a bite out of cancer alongside their furry friends with a walk and entertainment for the entire family. Funds raised support the mission of the American Cancer Society, which includes funding researchers, providing rides to treatment, lodging to patients and their families, and a 24/7 phone line that provides support and information.
Bark for Life South Bay is a team fundraiser in support of the San Pedro Relay for Life (an event scheduled for Saturday, May 18, 2019. For more information, go to http://www.relayforlife.org/sanpedroca
