Please email maryra@sanpedrochamber.com if you would like to be added to the waiting list.\n\n\n\nIn March\, the San Pedro Chamber of Commerce will be celebrating Women's History Month honoring women who have made significant contributions to our community. Honorees will be recognized at a reception: "Celebrating Women   Celebrating Giving Back\," on Thursday\, March 9\, 2023 at the San Pedro Elk's Lodge at 5:30 pm. \n\nWhy in March and how did the tradition start? In the United States\, Women's History Month traces its beginnings back to 1911\, to the First International Women's Day. In 1980\, President Carter\, issued a proclamation creating an official Women's History Week and in 1987\, recognizing the outstanding contributions of women to our nation's history\, Congress established March as the official Women's History Month. Each year\, the President of the United States issues the official annual proclamation proclaiming March as National Women's History Month. The San Pedro Chamber looks forward each year to joining in the celebration.\n\n\n\nOur 2023 Honorees are:\n\nSueAnn Ballat:  Gang Alternatives Program\n\nGayle Fleury:  Angel Gowns and Light of the Lighthouse\n\nAmy Grat: President/CEO\, EXP - The opportunity engine\n\nRosa Pesenti:  Boys and Girls Club of the LA Harbor and Maria's Closet\n\nNancy Richardson:  LAMI and Girl Scouts\n\nCamilla Townsend:  Founding Board Member of AltaSea and Trustee\, Port of Los Angeles High School\n\nRachel Viramontes:  President of the Wednesday Senior Club\n\n\n\nThe event includes a buffet dinner and complimentary champagne toast.
