SUMMARY:METHOD artist activations by Ashton S. Phillips and Edua Mercedes
DESCRIPTION:Join us in the Angels Gate Cultural Center gallery for artist activations by Edua Mercedes and Ashton S. Phillips of their works in METHOD this Saturday\, November 16th during Open Studios Day at AGCC.\n\nAt 2pm\, Ashton S. Phillips will perform the slippery\, entangled vibrancy of his Worm Bath / Alter Piece. Sit with a curious rout of site-specific\, hermaphroditic snails\, as they explore the surfaces of bathing dirt forms\, eating excess algae\, and contributing their own antimicrobial slime as they go. Come become a part of an interspecies body of sound big and complicated enough to hold all of us: trans\, muddy\, green\, sliming\, fungal\, bubbling\, spurting\, pink and blue.\n\nThroughout the afternoon\, Edua Mercedes will present a durational performance situated in front of her site-specific installation faro\, with a culminating interactive action taking place at 2:30pm. The performance\, titled For aspiring to experienced art collectors: El Cordonazo\, aims to contextualize the past\, present\, and future of the artist's sculptural work in METHOD.\n\nGallery Schedule?\n\n12pm 1:50pm: activation of faro by Edua Mercedes\n\n2pm 2:15pm: activation of Worm Bath\, Alter Piece by Ashton S. Phillips\n\n2:30pm 2:45pm: For aspiring to experienced art collectors: El Cordonazo\, a performance by Edua Mercedes\n\nMETHOD is made possible with support from the California Natural Resources Agency for the Museum Grant Program under the California Cultural and Historical Endowment\, and the Department of Cultural Affairs\, City of Los Angeles. Additional support for the AGCC exhibitions program is provided by the Perenchio Foundation\, the City of Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks\, the Los Angeles County Department of Arts and Culture\, The Ahmanson Foundation\, Norris Foundation\, the Ralph M.
