DESCRIPTION:The San Pedro Waterfront Arts District invites the community to join us at the next chapter of a new arts education series at the Cabrillo Marine Aquarium called Cuatro@Cabrillo: Arts Adventures for the Culturally Curious.\n\nThe District will screen BIRDMAN by Alejandro Gonzalez I rritu\, Sunday\, March 24th\, 2019\, 3:30pm. Perhaps the best film expression of magical realism\, a literary movement that defined Latin American literature.\n\nJoin arts scholar Gregorio Luke as he leads us through three films by Oscar winning Mexican directors in seminars designed to promote a deeper appreciation of the arts of Mexico.\n\nThe first movie in the 2019 film seminar series was GRAVITY by Alfonso Cuar n on Sunday\, January 27th\, 2019\, 3:30pm.\n\nOn March 14th and May 9th\, 2019\, 6:00pm 9:00pm\, film fans can also participate in two more Potluck Film Salons at the home of Gregorio and Lyndee Luke. Gregorio will screen a relevant film and lead a discussion about the director's work. You are encouraged to show off your Mexican culinary skills by bringing a savory dish to share with the other guests. Tickets are limited to 25 patrons.\n\nThis exploration of the contributions of Mexican artists continues during 2019 when Mr. Luke will offer his insight and analysis of three Oscar-winning films by contemporary Mexican directors:\n\n\n \n BIRDMAN by Alejandro Gonzalez I rritu\, Sunday\, March 24th\, 2019\, 3:30pm.\n \n \n SHAPE OF WATER by Guillermo del Toro\, Sunday\, May 19th\, 2019\, 3:30pm.
