    The San Pedro Chamber of Commerce welcomes your interest in being in the holiday parade.

    Each year about 9,000 people come out to enjoy more than 100 parade entrants.

    Liability Release and Waiver
    FOR GOOD AND VALUABLE CONSIDERATION, including permission for the undersigned to participate in the 39th Annual Spirit of San Pedro Holiday Parade and related activities, I, the undersigned representative of the above organization: 1. Agree that prior to participating in the “Holiday Spirit of San Pedro Holiday Parade”, as appropriate, will inspect equipment and vehicle(s) to be used to determine the safety of said vehicles and equipment. If I believe it/them to be unsafe, I will withdraw it/them from the parade and notify parade officials. 2. Acknowledge that I fully understand that I will be engaging in activities that involve risk of economic losses, serious injury or death. These risks may result from my own actions, actions of others, negligence of others, conditions of facilities or equipment, or inherent risks from this type of activity. 3. Assume any and all risk of personal injury to myself and/or members of the above organization participating in the event; including but not limited to: medical and hospital expenses, permanent or partial disability or death, and damages to my or the organization’s property resulting from participation in the event. 4. Agree not to hold liable or sue the San Pedro Peninsula Chamber of Commerce and their officials, employees and agents, officers, board members, and the SAN PEDRO HOLIDAY PARADE COMMITTEE members as a result of any and all liability, loss, damage, claim, demand, cost, expense, and cause of action arising from or attributable to my participation in this event. 5. Have carefully reviewed this release / waiver and fully understand its contents. I am aware that I am releasing certain legal rights as I enter into this waiver as a representative of the above organization. This document relieves the City of Los Angeles, The San Pedro Peninsula Chamber of Commerce, the San Pedro Historic Downtown Waterfront Business Improvement District and their agents from liability for personal injury, wrongful death, and property damage caused by negligence. On behalf of my organization and myself, I have read this waiver and release, and sign voluntarily.

    Parade Regulations Agreement
    1. NO ENTRIES MAY HAVE A SANTA CLAUS UNLESS PRIOR APPROVAL FROM SPCC 2. All units must check-in between 10:00 AM and 12:00 PM at 15th and Pacific Avenue on Sunday December 2rd, 2018. Late arrivals WILL be repositioned to the end of the Parade. THE PARADE IS SCHEDULED TO START PROMPTLY AT 1:00 PM, RAIN OR SHINE. Should there be inclement weather, the start of the parade may be delayed for up to an hour, but the Parade will take place. 3. All units are reminded of the responsibility that goes along with a public presentation: a. Nudity, risqué clothing, and obscenity will not be permitted. Any unit that does not comply with this rule will be removed from the parade route and/or forfeit their chance to participate in future parades. b. No political messages will be permitted c. All units are required to supply 2 monitors to assist San Pedro Holiday Parade officials while the parade is in progress. All units participating in the Parade must have proof of liability insurance, and must submit the completed Hold Harmless / Indemnity from included in this application packet. d. Police and Fire Department traffic lanes must be kept open at all times. It is forbidden by law to park vehicles, to decorate units, to practice marching routines, or to gather to wait within traffic lanes. e. Due to noise abatement laws, units are forbidden to test equipment to play music until they have reached the parade route. f. ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES ARE PROHIBITED in the entire pre-parade assembly area, as well as on the parade route. PARTICIPANTS CONSUMING ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES WILL BE PROHIBITED FROM PARTICIPATING. 4. All units must be ready to move on cue, or the next unit will proceed. The delayed unit will proceed only at the next convenient time as determined by San Pedro Holiday Parade officials. 5. All entries must complete the entire parade route. A certificate of participation / appreciation will be presented to each entry as they pass the final announcing station at 6th and Palos Verdes. 6. All parade participants are FORBIDDEN TO THROW OUT or HAND OUT ANYTHING from their unit, including candy, toys, streamers, newspapers, etc. due to physical injury, danger, and insurance and littering problems. Handing out leaflets, pamphlets, newspapers or flyers from the Parade while in route is strictly prohibited. 7. Due to LA City Regulations, no parade unit may have more than approximately 50 participants. Units larger than 50 participants must have separate applications. No unit is allowed to participate alone or with any other unit without pre-parade registration with the SAN PEDRO HOLIDAY PARADE COMMITTEE. Any unit “crashing” the parade will be removed immediately. 8. SAN PEDRO HOLIDAY PARADE COMMITTEE reserves the right to remove persons from any float or vehicular unit which it determines to be overcrowded to such an extent that the unit may break down or cause injury to participants. Any motorized unit that becomes disabled and delays the Parade will be removed from the parade route by the SAN PEDRO HOLIDAY PARADE COMMITTEE. Towing expenses for any unity that breaks down will be at the applicant’s expense. 9. The SAN PEDRO HOLIDAY PARADE COMMITTEE reserves the right to remove any person or unit from the pre-parade assembly area or the parade, who is, in its option, offensive and a hindrance to the progress of the Parade, or places other participants or spectators in physical danger, or violates any of the regulations set forth in this application. 10. All applicants are responsible for any and all acts and/or omissions on their part or on the part of their agents and/or employees, which may result in injury or damage to themselves or third parties. 11. All applicants specifically agree to hold the SAN PEDRO HOLIDAY PARADE COMMITTEE free and harmless from any and all claims arising out of any such act of omission. 12. All applicants are required to abide by the rules and regulations as established by the SAN PEDRO HOLIDAY PARADE COMMITTEE, and by the laws of the State of California. Entries that do not comply with the Parade rules may be told to leave the Parade. The motorcycle helmet law will be enforced by the Los Angles Police Department. Violators are subject to citation. 13. The 38th Annual Spirit of San Pedro Holiday Parade is presented for the public as an entertainment event and the SAN PEDRO HOLIDAY PARADE COMMITTEE reserves all rights as producers. Any reproduction, broadcast of commercial use of any portion of the event, in whole or in part, in any form without explicit prior written consent of the SAN PEDRO HOLIDAY PARADE COMMITTEE is strictly prohibited. ALL VEHICULAR ENTRIES WILL BE REQUIRED TO COMPLETE THE ADDITIONAL HOLD HARMLESS / INDEMNITY FORM INCLUDED IN THIS APPLICATION PACKET.

I further agree that if any damages be occasioned or loss or damages occur from any cause to the entry, or other articles I may use or exhibit, I will make no claim therefore against the San Pedro Peninsula Chamber of Commerce or its agents, against any legal proceedings for personal injuries or property damage arising from an accident occasioned by an employee or entry of mine. I further agree in consideration of your acceptance of this entry, I hereby, for myself, my heirs, my executors and administrators, waive any and all rights and claims for damages I may have against the sponsors, SAN PEDRO HOLIDAY COMMITTEE coordination groups, any individuals associated with the event, their representatives, successors and assigns, and will hold them harmless for any and all injuries suffered in connection with said event.
