Native Garden Workday at CMA
, San Pedro, CA
Saturday, May 05, 2012
8:00 AM - 10:00 AM
Cabrillo Marine Aquarium invites the public to participate in our monthly Beach Clean-Up and Native Garden Workday, Saturday, May 5 from 8 to 10 a.m. Volunteers learn about shoreline habitats and the coastal sage scrub native plant community, while discovering the benefits of protecting these environments. The collective effort of volunteers who spend two hours removing beach debris and helping to maintain the native garden can make a real difference along our heavily impacted shoreline.
Advance reservations for this volunteer activity are required. Please call by the prior Thursday, (310) 548-7562 for reservations and information. We welcome volunteers of all ages and abilities; parking tickets will be validated.
Following a morning of conservation efforts, visitors can extend their experience by visiting the aquarium’s Exploration Center, Aquatic Nursery, Virginia Reid Moore Marine Research Library and the Susanne Lawrenz-Miller Exhibit Hall. The Aquarium displays local marine life of Southern California and will be open to the public from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Plan to stop by CMA’s volunteer-run gift shop for a wide selection of gifts and books.
The Aquarium is a facility of the City of Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks with support from FRIENDS of Cabrillo Marine Aquarium and is located at 3720 Stephen M. White Drive in San Pedro.
For additional information, group reservations, or to receive a calendar of events, call (310) 548-7562 or visit our website at www.cabrillomarineaquarium.org.
