Arley Baker | Board Member
Arley Baker oversees public relations, media relations and marketing communications for the Port of Los Angeles. On a daily basis at the Los Angeles Harbor Department, his organization facilitates Port interaction with community members, business stakeholders, traditional and social media, and elected officials.
Before joining the Port as head of public affairs in 2004, Arley was vice president of the Corporate-Consumer practice at the L.A.-based PR firm, Rogers & Cowan, a division of Weber Shandwick Worldwide. Prior to that, he was director of corporate communications at EarthLink, a major U.S. Internet service provider. Over the past 20 years, he has worked with a variety of clients and companies, including Bank of America, PainePR, United Airlines, American Suzuki Motor Corporation, Taco Bell, Con-Way Transportation Services, and the Ministry of Tourism in British Columbia, Canada.
Arley was born and raised in Southern California, where he earned a bachelor's degree in English and minor in political science from the University of Redlands. He is a 2008 Fellow of the Leadership Southern California Network and is a 2010-2011 Executive Fellow at the Coro Southern California Center for Civic Leadership. He also is a board vice president for the International Business Association of the Chamber of Commerce in Long Beach, where he lives with his wife, Melissa, and their two young children.
